Join us for our spring 2019 Guided Hike Series with Don from Scotian Hiker! May 26th, 2019: Baxter's Harbour Waterfall Tour This tour includes a visit to three waterfalls, all accessed from Old Baxter Mill Road. Route involves approximately 5KMs of walking over varied terrain: dirt road, woods road, rocky shoreline and gullies. There will be some scrambling up and down banks and over basalt rock formations, and at least two stream crossings will be necessary (expect wet feet, and bring dry socks). It's a physically challenging route; easier exits are available from the first two waterfalls, but to leave the third waterfall will require more effort. There are no toilet facilities. Please bring minimum 1L water, lunch or energy snacks, sturdy and comfy footwear, sun protection, bug repellent. A light windbreaker or layered clothing is a good idea, as it can be cool if the wind is blowing. Please note, these are group hike events; if an individual has to turn back for any reason, the group will be expected to return with the hike guide or continue the hike at their own discretion and risk. This event is a partnership between the Municipality of the County of Kings, Canning Recreation, and Scotian Hiker, with funding provided by the NS Department of Communities, Culture, and Heritage. |
